The PsycWard Blog
By Dr. Eric Ward
Hello and welcome to our new blog! For years, people I know from all parts of my life – work, friends, clients – have been telling me over and over “you should write a book!” So… I did. And then I wrote another one. And some other stuff. This blog is really just an extension of all that writing. You’ll be hearing from me and the other team members at PsycWard. We’ll be sharing our thoughts, our experiences from our years in the mental health and coaching fields, and advice on parenting, personal relationships and living a fulfilling life.
Over the years, I’ve worked with lots of men – and lots of couples – to help them improve their communication, building intimacy, overcoming challenges, and achieving personal growth. Both life and relationships can be messy and complicated, but also profoundly rewarding if you’re willing to do the work it takes to create the life you want to live each day. I’ve also spent a good portion of my career working in psychiatric crisis intervention, so you’re likely to read some about that too.
I hope this blog will be especially valuable for those seeking to strengthen their relationships, family bonds, and friendships. I’m a guy (shocking, I know), so I’ve lived and understand many of the unique struggles we men – and the women who love us – face when it comes to vulnerability, emotional expression, and fostering true connection with others.
Here you’ll find posts covering everything from handling personal crisis, managing conflict to initiating difficult conversations and keeping the spark alive in long-term relationships. I’ll also share thought-provoking questions, practical exercises, book recommendations, and research-backed tips for being the best partner, father, friend, coworker, and community member possible.
Whether you’re a confirmed and content single person, dating, or in a committed partnership, I believe there are always ways we can challenge ourselves to grow. It’s not easy, but personal development is a lifelong endeavor. And the rewards – deeper bonds, greater intimacy, and relationships built on trust, compassion, and mutual understanding – make the effort worthwhile.
I don’t have all the answers, but I look forward to exchanging ideas and learning from you as we navigate this journey together. Your feedback, comments, and questions are welcomed! My hope is that this blog becomes a supportive community where people feel safe to be vulnerable and authentic.
If you’re ready to transform your most important relationships and live a life aligned with your values, you’re in the right place. Stick around and let’s get started!
Warmly, Eric Ward
